The problems have arisen after the earthquake with the natural springs moving, leaving villages with no water.
VIEW PROFILES OF ALL THE 19 HOUSES IN KUBER TOLE
In the case of Kuber Tole there are 2 natural springs. The nearest one 30m away and 100m down is a new spring since the earthquake (the villagers feel this may dry up). The 2nd spring is 300m away and about 20m down – this spring has always run with lots of water. We are collecting information on the flowrates at each spring.
There is some pipework and a reserve tank in place but both need improvements/upgrades to use. These were put in place by the government but never finished.
The water will go to the reserve tank in the village. From here the villagers propose a meter to each house/field so water usage can be monitored and the water shared fairly.
Steps:
- Planning and discussion
- Agreement and contracts signed
- Building work
- Management and maintenance of system
- Growth of village improvement projects and some wealth is generated
- Outcomes and lessons learnt recorded
